Subject: Questions regarding the MaaS360 features for managing laptops
Hi Davin
Thanks for posting on the community!
Here's a quick response to your questions point-by-point.
1. Is Gateway for Documents the same as Mobile Document Editor & Sync, and can it run on a laptop?
The Gateway for Documents feature is available as part of specific MaaS360 bundles and is found as part of specific bundles (Premier, Enterprise).
You can find more information about the bundles here: https://www.ibm.com/products/maas360/pricing
This feature allows you to set up Mobile Enterprise Gateway, which as part of Cloud Extender, facilitates transfer of On-Premise document content (Sharepoint, Windows File Share, etc.) to mobile devices.
Unfortunately this is not available at present for laptops.
2. Is there a Secure Mobile Mail feature for laptops?
No - not at present.
3. For numbers 1 and 2, if possible on a laptop, do we have to install the Cloud Extender in our on-premise environment?
Not possible on a laptop - yes on mobile (Android/iOS) - but yes you need Cloud Extender and Mobile Enterprise Gateway to make it run.
4. Is there a feature for USB port blocking on Windows OS and macOS?
Yes - please see policy settings for respective device types.
6. What's the difference between the TeamViewer bundling on MaaS360 and if we buy directly from the TeamViewer separately?
You can control the device remotely via TeamViewer using a session which you start from the device record on the MaaS360 admin console, or directly on the Team Viewer website, depending on where you have purchased the licences.
