I am using IBM i ACS 1.1.9.3 on an IBM i v7r1 on Windows 10.  I can't get content assist to work properly.

Prior to this I was using ACS 1.1.8.8 where content assist work properly.  Is there a setting to point to the correct DB tables?

Is it possible to get the zip file for ACS 1.1.8.8?

Could you give a specific description of what action you actually did that caused you to say Content Assist did not work properly?

I test mine (1.1.9.3) and it appears to work fine.

The setting to point to the correct DB tables that you asked about should be in  Edit --> JDBC Config  -->  System tab --> Default SQL Schema or Library List.

The assist is very dependent on positioning.  Try deleting the * and using space then F4.  If you are somewhere else on the statement the assist does not know what you are asking for.

    I do not have a copy of IBM i Access v1 r1.zip with ACS 1.1.8.8 only 1.1.9.3.

I also check the JDBC Configuration on both versions.

    Dear Kevin

Mine works fine with IBM i 7.4 server.  Since your IBM i server is only at 7.1, I suspect you may need to apply DB2 group PTF (better to apply all groups) to the latest level.

    Hello,

I agree with Satid about the PTF level. Assuming you are using Oracle Java 1.8 with latest FixPack applied, one additional thing you could try, would be to use IBM Semeru Java: https://developer.ibm.com/languages/java/semeru-runtimes/downloads/?os=undefined

To use IBM Semeru only for iACS, all you need to do, is to download from the above link the zip JRE file (for windows https://github.com/ibmruntimes/semeru17-binaries/releases/download/jdk-17.0.8.1%2B1_openj9-0.40.0/ibm-semeru-open-jre_x64_windows_17.0.8.1_1_openj9-0.40.0.zip), unzip somewhere in your PC and then copy that jre folder (jdk-17.0.8+1-jre) to the corresponding IBM i Access Client Solutions Start Programs folder. Assuming you are running on Windows 64-bit, this would be the Windows_x86-64 folder.

If everything goes well, when you will start iACS and click on Help, About, you will see that now iACS uses OpenJDK Java instead of the Oracle one.

I've noticed several strange behaviors in the past with iACS when using Oracle Java instead of IBM Semeru, so maybe you could give it try.

    Good luck,

    Nikos.

Please also toggle between SQL and SYSTEM naming (in JDBC Cconfig --> Format tab).  You need to restart Run SQL Script tool after the change,

Different naming convention in Run SQL Script session produces different information you see from Content Assist.  Refer to this article for details :  Guru: ACS 1.1.8.3 Content Assist Includes Prompt For SQL! at  https://www.itjungle.com/2020/02/10/guru-acs-1-1-8-3-content-assist-includes-prompt-for-sql/

    Dear kevin

    >>>> Is it possible to get the zip file for ACS 1.1.8.8? <<<<

On my second thought that IBM i ACS 1.1.9.3 may not work with IBM i server 7.1 even with its highest PTF level because I'm fairly certain ACS 1.1.9.3 was not created with IBM i 7.1 in the picture as the latter was already out of support for quite a while already, I see you may need ACS 1.1.8.8 back to make Content Assist work the way you are familiar with (if upgrading IBM i 7.1 to 7.3 is not a choice you can choose).

I forgot to answer this question and the answer is yes but you need an IBMer to help you on this.   There is an IBM intranet URL (which I believe is maintained by IBM Rochester team and its name used to be CA400 Project) in which all install image files of IBM i ACS of all releases are stored (along with other files such as install images of IBM i Access for Windows).  I accessed this intranet URL for the last time near the end of 2021 just a few weeks before I retired from IBM and I guess this URL may still exist now.  So, you need to make an appeal for help to an IBMer from IBM Rochester or who also knows about this intranet URL to help you with your request.  You may do this by posting a new thread with a proper subject (and keep your finger crossed - do not hold your breath, though).
