API Connect and DataPower v10.0.2 has a lot of new and requested features that empower developers and API product managers as well as increases API security.

API Connect v10.0.2 is now available
New Upgrade Options!
First and foremost, v10.0.2 has added some new upgrade capabilities including the ability to upgrade to v10 from v2018 OVA.  On v2018 OVA? Good news!  You can now upgrade to API Connect v10.   Upgrading v2018 to v10.0.1.2 recreates your VM with the latest version of Ubuntu 20.04. You can then upgrade from v10.0.1.2 to 10.0.2.0. See Requirements for upgrading for v10 versions on VMware.

New Operating System version for OVAs!
Also, the latest version of API Connect v10 OVA (10.0.2) has Ubuntu 20.04 under the hood.    Note: This does require an OVA upgrade to move to the latest version.

New Security Features in API Connect.
A great API strategy requires great security and, as always, API Connect continues to be a leader in API security.  In addition to a bunch of new features around user registries, API Connect now also supports TLS 1.3 for client and server profiles.

LDAP Groups save time!
Save time and utilize your current LDAP strategy now that API Connect LDAP user registries now support LDAP group mapping.  You can map external LDAP groups to API Connect user roles to enable more control of user authorization by using the developer toolkit CLI. For more information, see the following topics: API Connect now supports TLS protocol version 1.3 for TLS client and server profiles.  When configuring a TLS client or TLS server profile, you can now select TLS protocol version 1.3 as one of the protocols that the profile supports. For more information on configuring TLS profiles, see the following topics: The DataPower® API Gateway now supports the Compose UPN LDAP authentication method.  For details on configuring an LDAP user registry in IBM API Connect, see the following topics:
API Connect now supports authentication with custom external user registries. You can now use a custom external user registry to authenticate users of the Cloud Manager, the API Manager, and the Developer Portal by configuring a custom user registry in API Connect. See the following topics for details:

Simplify and customize your API Product Manager experience

Simply your API Path
Want to make your API path more basic?  You can now drop the catalog name for your "default" catalog path.   Simply designate one of your Catalogs to be the default Catalog. Then, calls to APIs that are published to the Catalog can use a shorter URL that does not include the Catalog name. For more information, see Creating and configuring Catalogs.

Work smarter, not harder: Catalogs in the API Manager user interface now have a Subscriptions tab that allows you to work with the subscriptions to the Plans in all the Products in the Catalog. For more information, see Working with application subscriptions.

Working with user-defined policies have you down?  Check this out:  Save time and CLI commands with an "Import user defined policy" in the UI!   You can now import a user-defined policy into a Catalog by using the API Manager user interface, in addition to the CLI capability that was available previously. For more information, see Importing a user-defined policy into a Catalog.

New GraphQL Capabilities

GraphQL is hot

GraphQL is blowing up!  API Connect has been a leader in adding GraphQL to your API strategy and 10.0.2 does not let down the drive to bringing Kafka from "toy" to production in your enterprise environments.  We added the ability for "subscriptions" through a new websocket upgrade policy.  Use the GraphQL Websocket Upgrade policy to process API requests and responses through a WebSocket connection. This policy is supported only for a GraphQL API. For more information, see GraphQL Websocket Upgrade.
