With this statement Gartner introduces their most recent Magic Quadrant for Full Lifecycle API Management.
In 2012 IBM API Connect (V1) was introduced. In their 2015 evaluation of the API Management market Gartner recognized IBM (API Connect) as a Leader in the Magic Quadrant for Full Lifecycle API Management (published in 2016). IBM (API Connect) has maintained a position as a Leader
through every subsequent evaluation including the most recent report issued this year (linked below).
Gartner’s comments about Leaders in general include:
- “Leaders are vendors that execute strongly and that lead and influence the market
- The most distinctive attribute of Leaders is that they can address the widest variety of API use cases: mobile and multi-experience, integration using APIs, data as a service, B2B and open banking.”
Please note IBM completed its acquisition of Red Hat on 9 July 2019, after the cut-off date for this Magic Quadrant. Both IBM and Red Hat met the inclusion criteria for this Magic Quadrant as of June 2019 and are expected to continue operating as before as separate products and were evaluated separately in this report.
