Would someone be able to clarify the hierarchy of environments? I may be asking the question incorrectly, but I'm wanting to confirm that data loading, mapping, allocating and modeling occurs in the DEV environment and is pushed to the PROD environment. Likewise, reports would be created in DEV and pushed to PROD once ready for users to view. I did find an "Understanding Environments" document with good information; but I'm not clear on the reason for the "Staged" area.

Hi Stephanie, apparently you understand DEV and PROD. One you create and edit and the other is used just to check. The STG environment is a "beta" of the PROD.

For example, after you create a report on DEV, you can go to STG to check this report to see if everything is working before promoting to PROD.

@Caio Reiter is right. STG is the test environment. You need to make sure PROD is working and correct, so before changing it with new data\reports\allocations etc you need to test in STG to verify the changes you produced in DEV are working as intended and there are no unintended impacts to other areas of the reports. Many times we find that changing something in the CC reports breaks something else in the service reports as an example.

Be aware of two things the platform version you're on. R12 is very different from V11. And make sure any reference documentation you find corresponds to you platform. Second, how your installation is set up. We load data in STG.
