  • 1.  using IBM Db2 Data Management Console 3.1.2 with db2oncloud

    I have a couple of complex queries I am running against my db2 on cloud instance.  I read that I could use DMC to perform db2advis like analysis of the query, to have it suggest index/mqt/etc. improvements that will make the queries run quicker.  During the DMC install, I entered in the connection information for my db2oncloud instance, and the Test Connection button worked fine.  However, when I clicked the Next button, I got the error:

    Error:

    HWCREP0014E: The schema IBMCONSOLE has been used in this database, please specify another database information.

    The UI gives me no way to change the Repository Schema value of IBMCONSOLE, and the docs seem to indicate I shouldn't change it even if I could.  So I am not sure exactly how to proceed.

    This seems like it should be an issue others have seen, but searching for HWCREP0014E in community.ibm.com gave me no hits, which I found surprising.

    Hi Chirs,

    In the current DMC, tuning is not supported yet, you will be able to do Visual EXPLAIN function to see the access plan of the query.  Tuning function is not supported in DSM for Db2 on Cloud databases.  You can find more info from our roadmap page:  https://ibm.biz/DMCRoadmap 

    You may use db2advis manually for index / mqt recommendations.

    For setting up DMC, you can consider installing the DMC repository on a different database.  Current DMC, provides historical monitoring support for Db2 on Cloud.
