I’ve got a customer that is running TWS 8.5.1. They are considering an upgrade to IWS 9.3. This is my plan I’m going to share with them, is there something I’m missing? Thanks!

1. Install IWS 9.3.2 and DWC 9.3.2 on new server

2. Export the various settings by running dataexport on TWS 8.5.1

3. Import the various settings by running dataimport on IWS 9.3.2

4. Change MDM IP address to new IWS IP address on each workstation and restart the agent

5. Restart IWS 9.3.2 engine

A good practice is to follow the IWS documentation regarding "Upgrading a master domain manager instance or its backup".

The Cut Over from the old MDM to the new MDM is done by "conman switchmgr" and "conman switcheventprocessor" and to make the switch permanent (longterm switch). This ensures that there is no interruption in the scheduling network what is essential in a production environment.
