I've loaded some data into apptio and i am seeing a question mark symbol in a black diamond appear in my data set. Has anyone run into this before? If so, what causes this and how do I fix this?

Andrew, one thing that can cause this is if you upload foreign characters such as ñ or ü without first converting the CSV to UTF-8 formatting.

To do this, open the CSV in a text editor such as Notepad++, and use the encoding feature to convert to UTF-8, then re-upload.

Great answer Mark, I'd also like to point out if I may, that one can also just use NotePad, on Windows, if IT has strict rules around application installations.

Adding another note here, the file can also be saved as "Unicode Text" directly in Excel, and the format will upload properly into Apptio:
