  • 1.  Stability of Optim 11.3 FP6 & FP7

    At Discover we recently upgraded to Optim 11.3 FP7 and encountered couple issues with respect to Linux loader and Date of Birth masking. IBM has provided fixes and we are in the process of retesting. We are now concerned with FP7 upgrade as we are not sure how stable FP7 is at this point of time. 

    We are now thinking of downgrading to FP6 where many of masking functionalities were working at this point of time. Please let us know if there are any open items which needs to be taken care in FP6?

    Hi Vivek,

     

    We implemented Optim FP7 a few months back.  We went through months of extensive "formal testing" for off-the-shelf functionality, due to our heavy compliance requirements. We only experienced a couple of issues that required Optim Support intervention. Other than those few things, we've been without issue for a while now. We're only using Optim for data growth/archiving though.

    1. About the issues mentioned - Whether that was pertaining to any specific sensitive fields? 
    2. Are those issue addressed or still open with IBM?
    3. Linux is our server and issues experienced mostly with loader jobs. IBM provided with fixes last week and we are in the process of retesting. Did you experience any specific issues with respect to Linux?

    Vivek,

     

    No Linux issues. We only experienced an Optim Connect Server issue and a few security config issues. All the other prior issues were addressed in the FixList for FP7. When I built our new environment I shifted us away from Linux and DB2 to Windows and MSSQL for the Optim application OS and Database. New build. Not an upgrade. So our F7 build may not be a good frame of reference for you.

    One point worth mentioning - FP07 is not backwards compatible with older versions.
    We experienced issues registering archive file created with FP07 software into environment running 11.3.0.4 DropIn 215.
    So plan your upgrade carefully.

    I've migrated all of our archives and objects from an FP4 environment to the new FP7 environment and all of our formal testing has passed. 

    We are required to formally test off the shelf functionality before we can productively use a software product. See the attached list of requirements and tests. Download it if you can't see the embedded jpg.
