Hi Michelle,

Not the definitive list, but here are a couple of ideas:

A fairly standard use-case is to use the SDM project to load a single set of raw data that you may need in different projects - each of which may require different types of transformations to meet the requirements of their individual projects.

Another idea is to check your raw data quality using the SDM's data quality reports. Comparing these data quality reports to those in the destination project (post transforms) can give you some insight into your raw data and how/where you can improve your data quality.

Jon, what is the difference then between the Data Report in the Data & Allocations Sectioin on the Reporting tab vs the data quality reports?  Couldn't I check my raw data quality here as well?

Hey Michelle,

You certainly could check your raw data in the Data Report (Data & Allocations Section) but you'd have to do so prior to doing any transforms/mappings. Those reports (in your project) are analyzing everything - both raw data and transformations.

As an example - in my test SDM project I have ~85% Cost Source completeness with my raw data. Once I publish that raw data from SDM to my Cost Transparency project and that raw data is transformed - my number of records analyzed doubles and my completeness has risen to 93.4!
