  • 1.  Sharing direct links to reports

    Posted 01/27/17 07:07 AM

We've been sending out comms to users and have been including personalised links to the most relevant reports to that user (sometimes filtered specifically for them).  I've found the best way to do this is to click on the envelope at the top of the screen and generate an emailed link to the report rather than just copying the URL.  These have their downsides though and don't seem to link to the latest month and following an upgrade of our environments now don't work at all.

Has anyone managed to decipher the URL structure or have any suggestions on how to create what's effectively a permalink to the most recent version of a particular page / report so that they can be used in similar personalised communications?  Grateful for any thoughts!

    Hi Beau!

This is a very interesting topic as I have been trying to think of ways to publish a list of reports for users to view on a monthly basis (via email notification).

Apptio does embed the Month/Year of the report in the URL. As far as I know, I don't think there is any other option to run a report without those date attributes.

I will get this suggestion back to the Product team.  In the meantime, I will also try to pursue a solution/workaround on this topic as well.

I'm thinking that the URL can be built as a string via the transform/data layer using some string concatenation including using a NOW function that can use the current system date instead of the date picker date.

    Stay tuned!

    Regards,

    Bill

Great, thanks Bill - I'm just glad I wasn't asking something really obvious.  Look forward to hearing about any potential workarounds, and thanks for passing onto the product team!
