  • 1.  Setting up default homepage

    Posted Fri October 24, 2025 03:02 PM

I haven been trying to setup a default homepage under manage --> Customization --> Views --> HomePage and selected a report that needs to be displayed as a home page for ever who logs into cognos test but its not working as expected, rather than directly going into the custom homepage, it goes to the default page where we can see quick launch etc etc.. and we have to explicitly go to the home page by clicking the three lines on the top left of the page. It's working for some though. How to fix this, any suggestions please. Thank you.

    Hi Sirisha ,

You need to do the following (tested in v12.1.0)

From Manage, click on People then Accounts.

    Click on the Cognos namespace.

From a role (this is not working with a group) that you will use to apply this modification, click on Actions menu then choose Properties.

Click on the Customization tab then Edit for Home Page

Select a report or a dashboard..

Click Select to save this update.

    Click Save again.

To test, ask one user belonging to the role you've modified to logoff and logon, and it should be working.

    Best regards,

    Sirisha,

I just investigated this for a client myself. There is a priority assigned to each role and by default they are all the same priority. You will want to give the intended role a higher priority, say 10 for example, so that role takes precedence over other ones. Also note, System Administrator has a default priority of 1000 so if you are in that role you will always see the home page set for that which is probably the default. In our case, we set up special roles just for the custom home pages to more easily manage it and assigned them priorities 10,9,8,etc since we have some overlap and the customer wanted certain pages to take precedence over other ones.
