  • 1.  Scheduling tasks that need two resources

    Hello,

I am looking at a scheduling problem where each task requires two resources simultaneously, such as a machine and an employee.

The difficulty is that the resources have different availability calendars, and a task can only progress at times where both required resources are available.

When scheduling for a single resource, I can use one interval variable per task and a stepwise intensity function to model resource unavailability. This idea does not seem to carry over to the two-resource case.

What would be good ways to model this?

    Thanks,
    Joachim

    Hi,

One way could be to mix 2 stepwise functions to build a third one ?
Other way, why not using 2 interval variables with 2 intensity functions and make those 2 intervals equal or at least link them ?

    regards
