    good day to you,

i would like to know if anyone has ever use remote access facility for HMC. I mean the remote access allows us to shutdown and start up the HMC remotely.

For example location of HMC is oversea and administrator allows to perform recovery/upgrading the HMC remotely without standing infront the machine.

Kindly share if there is comercial product is able to support this.

I have few HMC running with HMC ver 3.5 up to 7.3.

    Regards,

Make sure you have all of the remote operations enabled in the HMC Management menu.

If you are into luxury, look at "kvm over ip"-switches which will not only let you cycle power remotely but also see the boot messages of the underlying linux.

For the rare cases where a hmc upgrade might go wrong, make friends with personnel at the remote site who can press buttons or take screen-shots with a digicam if required.

Anyway, redundant hmc setups are common, where a failed upgrade or other kind of hmc failure will not give you an instant headache.
