Newbie here trying to figure out the integration between Cost Transparency and IT Planning ...

I changed the ITP Reference Data Account table in Cost Transparency ... validated the change in Development, promoted it up through Production. Validated it again in CT. So far, so good.

Now I want to bring those changes into IT Planning. So ... my Budget and Forecast are still in "New" status. I press the button to update reference data and the system tells me that everything is current. But, when I go to validate the changes that I made in the reference data, it's not there.

Anybody got any ideas what I'm doing wrong.

BTW, for what it's worth ... the fact that IT Planning integration with Cost Transparency is so convoluted is really a disappointment for me in the product. I'm inheriting this application, so I've got to live with it. But, it is a real kludge.

Aha ... may have found it ... looks like there are two steps to updating reference data in a plan. I'm guessing "Update Reference Data" is the second step. I've discovered another step to Import Reference data from Cost Transparency. Off to check on that (as soon as my promotions in that environment complete ... found some more data that needed to be updated).

Frustrating that the documentation on how to do stuff is so poor ...

Well ... finally figured it out.

Previous comment was partially right ... there's yet another step. Publish the updated reference data within IT Planning.

So, the full process seems to be:

    1. Update reference data in Cost Transparency (validate and promote through production)
    2. In IT Planning, import the reference data from Cost Transparency
    3. In IT Planning, publish the data for use within IT Planning
    4. Within each Budget/Plan/Actuals (as appropriate) Refresh the reference data.
    5. And oh, by the way, if you update the Actuals reference data, you're probably going to need to import the actuals from Cost Transparency again.

    Learning, the hard way ...

Glad you found the answer yourself  I completely agree that the interface is so clunky especially for two products from the same company, definitely needs to be reviewed and updated!!

Updated answer ... I have a feeling I'm going to be coming back to this cheat sheet often ...

And to do so, you need to go month-by-month:
      1. Update Reference data (again!)
      2. Import from Cost Transparency
