I'm experiencing some problems installing the ILOG CPLEX Optimization Studio 12.5 fix pack (namely 12.5.0-WS-COS-win64-fp001). On my system I have installed CPLEX Optimization Studio 12.5 x64 on Windows 8 x64, and I am running the fix pack installer as an administrator and setting the compatibility with Windows 7.

During the pre-installation, I get the "Existing installation not found" error, as attached in the image. The installation log just reports that the installation has been canceled by the user: no error is mentioned. Moreover, there's also the line "Search Dev previous versions" reporting that the status is "successful", as if the installer correctly detected the previous installation.

    What is the problem?

    Regards,

    Stefano

However, I can't find the installer for the Academic edition, neither in the fix central, nor in the Software Catalog of the Academic Initiative. Is it out?

    Regards,

    Stefano

I think, IBM should provide a simpler installer, a one that does not even need Java...

It's a common problem then. How did you manually install the fix? I guess by extracting the installer somewhere and then manually copy/pasting some files into the CPLEX installation directory... Which files? Is there a guide for that?

    Stefano

At least, CPLEX claims to be 12.5.0.1 now. But I really cannot recommend this procedure. IBM has to fix the installer.
