This is my 1000th post in this forum : OPL for CPLEX.
I started to provide some answers 10 years ago so let me celebrate a bit and add some comments.
As a student, the programming language I really enjoyed was PROLOG and with OPL I have part of the fun I used to have with PROLOG.
I even heard of some customers who coined a new word : OPLHOLIC
Interesting word even though I have to add that this was at a beer producer.
An abstract modeling language like OPL won't turn all NP problem into something easier but it will really help the human mind to focus on what is key in the model and not on how to write efficient code. Always difficult to two two things at the same time, modeling and coding. This has many other advantages for maintenance, quality assurance and I discussed that at Euro, Informs, Orbel and Roadef.
In the past 10 years, I was glad to meet many people who shared feedback with me and I hope to go on. See you for my post 2000!
