I'd like to bring this back up again. I would really like for Optim to be able to directly (native connect) archive/ingest delimited files. fyi, I put an RFE (enhancement in a year or so back but notta).

I've worked with a number of various archiving tools over my career. Optim, OpenText, Documentum, Alfresco, HP SDM, etc.. and the one feature that I've never really quite experienced, yet, is for an archiving tool with the ability to directly ingest delimited files without having to pre-stage them in DB2 or SQL or Similar.

Why is this? It's not like it's programmatically difficult. Right?

We've ingested hundreds of thousands of delimited files with our archiving efforts. Life would have been so much easier if Optim had the ability to connect directly to a directory of delimited files.

Am I the only one who would want this feature?

I agree this would be a useful feature, Danny. We do use Optim z/OS against delimited files on the mainframe and it works fine once you set up the file as a 'Legacy Table', but this feature isn't available on the distributed version as far as I can tell (which then requires you to federate the file data to mimic it being in a DB). We'll see if the IBMers on the site have thoughts on this idea becoming more reality.
