When I trace a specific Project ID from Cost Source I get the exact figure in the Projects object. However, when I trace the Project ID from the Projects I get a lower figure - why would this be?

    Hi Julie,

can you confirm which objects you are looking at when you are doing the trace? Are you always looking at the cost shown in Projects, or are you looking at Cost?

There could be a number of reasons that could be to do with unallocated costs, overhead costs that aren't initially identified as a specific Project ID in cost source, or something else.

If you cna give me a few more clues we can work out what's going on.

    Michael

I've tracing from Cost Source object (using the Project ID at CS) up through the model. Then tracing from Projects object (again using Project ID but from Projects)

I'm comparing the cost at Cost Source and cost at Projects

Think I've found the answer myself!!

Cost going via Other Cost Pools and Fixed Assets was being spread against all towers and then that cost was being taken on to the project - hence the difference. I've now amended the allocation & I have the same cost in Projects as I do in Cost Source
