Hence can i perform the following activities:

    1. Upgarde the machine directly to ML9 and install CSP.
    2. Is there any known problem on this particualr level or any other precautions to be taken other than the default mksysb and applying the fixes instead of commiting.

Please advise if this is a best practice.
Any links to best practice would also be of tremendous help.

One of my test boxes is running on ML9 and i do not have any issues with it what i would recommend is just to do couple checks before you do the upgrade.

lppck -v see if anything comes back
instfix -i |grep _SP and see if all the file sets that you have installed are not missing.

if that is all good i do be prety sure i could say that you will be fine.

Just one more thing is see if there is any prerequisites when you jumping from 01 to 09 .

    Good Luck

Maintenance Levels are now call Technology Levels. The new AIX release and service strategy and recommended maintenance strategies are documented at http://ww w14.software.ibm.com/webapp/set2/sas/f/best/home.html
