Lpar keeps booting into SMS instead of AIX 5.3

When I activate the partition I consistently go into SMS. If I hit the ESC key the system proceeds with a normal boot and everything is cool. Why though, does the system consistently start SMS?

The lpar profile specifies "Normal" for the boot option. I have even selected "Normal" as an over ride when I activated the partition. It stills starts SMS first.

I am puzzled and figure I must be overlooking something obvious. Maybe someone has a suggestion for me.

Note: when I originally installed AIX this was not a problem. The lpar would not boot into SMS. This problem started after I had inadvertantly shutdown both vio servers while my aix partition was still up (leaving the partition with no rootvg!).

    hdisk0 blv=hd5
    hdisk1 blv=hd5

I think it has something to do with my profile definition. Isn't there something that will define the lpar as the service lpar? Still investigating.

Where can I go to check the settings in sms. Puzzled...

I went into the web ASMI interface and looked through all the options. I did not see anywhere to specify how to boot a specify LPAR in SMS or Normal mode.

I am sure I am overlooking the obvious. Can I get another hint?

Ahhh so simple and I have looked at that screen so many times. It just goes to prove computers do what they are told. We just have to know what to tell them to do. Thank you thank you thank you. It is such a pleasure not to have to keep telling the LPAR to boot.

Now if teenagers were only this logical life would be simpler!
