I have an LPAR with AIX 5.3, two mirrored hdisks (hdisk0 and hdisk1) that make up my rootvg. These are virtual disks supplied by two different vio server partitions.
When I activate the partition I consistently go into SMS. If I hit the ESC key the system proceeds with a normal boot and everything is cool. Why though, does the system consistently start SMS?
The lpar profile specifies "Normal" for the boot option. I have even selected "Normal" as an over ride when I activated the partition. It stills starts SMS first.
I am puzzled and figure I must be overlooking something obvious. Maybe someone has a suggestion for me.
Note: when I originally installed AIX this was not a problem. The lpar would not boot into SMS. This problem started after I had inadvertantly shutdown both vio servers while my aix partition was still up (leaving the partition with no rootvg!).
