  • 1.  Location structure and systems

    Hi,

Can anyone help with advice on this topic?
I have created a location hierarchy using a PRIMARY system. All good so far.
I now wish to layer over this  a second system. the assets in this system belong to a location 5 levels down
To get the location system showing the locations, I believe the parent locations in the hierarchy must also be linked with the second system.
When I do this, assets connected to the level 4 location (for example)  also show up in an asset search for assets in the second system.
My question is - do you have to have a separate location structure for different systems? I don't really want to create two location records for the same location to achieve this outcome.
I can supply more detail if required.
    Thanks in advance,

    Hey Geoff,

You can probably try using the Advanced Search>> More Search Fields option.
The fields 'Search Asset Hierarchy' and/or 'Search Location Hierarchy' might give the desired results.
By any chance, are you trying to build a 'Network' system?

    Cheers,

    Hi Parang

I am not tyring to create a network hierarchy - just find a way to separate a second systems assets from the primary locations when the system assets first show up at L4/5 in the Location hierarchy.

I would like to keep them in the primary hierarchy as well
