  • 1.  ITPF Integration and CT Datasets

    Posted 10/09/18 05:58 PM

Hello, my team recently ran into a question, regarding integration between CT and ITPF, and I wanted to be sure to share the answer with the community.

In ITP, when configuring the plan integration, it lists a plethora of datasets (14 datasets total).  However, upon installing the integrations component in CT, it only creates 3 new datasets.  This begs the question: where are the other datasets?

Answer: you have to create the other datasets manually in CT.

For example, the plan integration section in ITP has an option for the "Contract Budget Dataset" and it is prepopulated with the name "ITPF Contract Budget".  In order to get the integration working, we had to manually create a new dataset in CT with the same name: "ITPF Contract Budget".

    Hope that helps...

    Hi Samir,

In Project Explorer, is there not an additional Category of z_Apptio ITPF Integration? Most, if not all, of these data sets should be found within that Category. If not, then I would suggest reaching out to Support on this.

Hi Bill, nice to hear from you.  I should have mentioned in my original post, we are running R11 in CT.  Also, just to clarify, the solution I shared was the suggested approach we got from Apptio.

Upon installing the integration component in CT, it did automatically create the new Category: "z_Apptio ITPF Integration".  It also generated 3 new datasets: "ITPF Actuals, ITPF Budget, ITPF Forecast" -- but that was it, beyond those 3, no other datasets were generated.

After coming up empty on TBM Connect, we reached out to Apptio.  They told us this was by design and that the solution was to manually create any of the other datasets we were interested in.

    Thanks!

Hi Samir. Likewise, great to bump into you again! I missed the R11 connection and you're correct in that it is a rudimentary install. Based on what I remember of your work, I bet you had them built in no time...

However, if you haven't built them yet and are looking for a shortcut you could perhaps download the template for each integration data set out of IT Planning as a starter for each dataset in Cost Transparency. Alternatively, if you have a contact using R12 (perhaps from an Apptio user group?), that person could potentially export templates from the R12 versions of the same datasets in CT for you to build off of (should be similar/identical between R11 & R12, though one should verify first). All the best!
