Our IT Costs are divided by several Owners. When viewing our reports, users would like to be able to see spending aggregated under the main IT Cost representative. 

Can a filter or slicer be added to the "IT Costs by Owner" table, providing the capability of adding selected Owner's spending together in order to view aggregate spending?

Hi,

When you say the IT Costs by owner table what are you referring to? Which specific report? You can add slicers to reports but this will be a customization and in turn can hinder your upgrade path. Instead, you could just type in the name of the owner in the owner coloumn to see their aggregate spend?

Apptio has an OOTB report showing you the IT owner costs in the IT Management, Finance tab. It already summarizes the cost by owner here.

Thanks for your reply.  Isabella and I are looking at the IT Management - Financials by IT Owner.  What we would like to do is be able to filter on multiple IT Owners because in some cases, the IT Owners need to be looked at in groups for different areas.  We are okay with making the report custom if that is what it takes to get in a filter to do this.  Do you think it would be wise to add a slicer on this tab for the IT Owners so we could select more than one at once?

Hi Molly,

Yes, you could add a slicer here and then select multiple owners by selecting the shift key when you choose them. Please note however that this is a customization and in turn you would have to redo this work if you upgrade your content. You could also create a brand new report and not touch the OOTB report which is not a customization. You could then just add this new report to the collection you want to see it in.

I could create the new report simply by creating a copy of the OOTB one and editing that, correct?  That is what we typically do when making updates.

Yes you could definitely do that. Just remember to save it as a different name  Also note once you add the slicer to select multiple owners you need to hold in the shift key.
