Event Details

Apptio is performing infrastructure improvements to enable Cloudability on Apptio Kubernetes Platform (AKP) that provides enhanced functionality in future releases.

The Cloudability application will remain online and available during these infrastructure improvements except during the maintenance window.

However, some of the changes being introduced will alter Apptio’s network configuration. This could impact your access to or use of Cloudability if you have implemented whitelisting rules within your corporate network.
After the completion of maintenance for your application tenant, you will no longer have access to the Workload Placement feature. This will be replaced by Workload Planning, which offers improved functionality and an updated user experience. This is an early-access BETA feature that is still under active development. However, we hope you will find the new feature a useful replacement, even in its current form.

Maintenance Window

Friday, June 9th 2023 5:00 PM PST to 5:00 PM PST on Saturday, June 10, 2023

As part of the monthly maintenance window on Friday June 9, 2023 we will be performing data migration to enhance the performance and stability of our services.  To ensure a seamless transition, the maintenance window will begin at 5:00 PM PST as usual. However, we anticipate that the process may take longer than usual, extending for up to 24 hours. Rest assured, we will conclude the maintenance no later than 5:00 PM PST on Saturday, June 10, 2023. 
During this time you may experience an interruption of the Cloudability service.  To ensure the success of the migration process, we kindly request that you refrain from making any changes to your data, configuration, or permissions during the maintenance window. Any alterations made during this time could be lost.

Required Action

DNS Whitelisting for Containers Metrics Agent

If you have implemented Whitelisting of the URLs used by Cloudability's containers metrics agent installed in your Kubernetes cluster, please ensure your whitelisting rules include all of the below endpoints. Please action before May 30, 2023 11:59 PST.

• metrics-collector.cloudability.com port 443
• api.cloudability.com port 443
• cldy-cake-pipeline.s3.amazonaws.com port 443
• apptio*.s3.amazonaws.com port 443
• frontdoor*.apptio.com port 443

IP-based Whitelisting

Apptio doesn't recommend whitelisting of host system IP addresses as Apptio applications are hosted on systems with dynamic IP addresses.

Therefore, If you have an existing legacy whitelisting agreement with Apptio, please reach out to your TAM/Customer Success Manager/ Account Manager or log a support ticket by May 30, 2023 to receive instructions for continued support for your legacy configuration. 

Impact of Non-Action

DNS Whitelisting for Containers Metrics Agent

If you have network policies that block outbound access to Cloudability AWS S3 buckets, the Kubernetes telemetry data will be lost.

The data needed for container use cases like Insights and recommendations will not be available post May 30th, 2023.

IP-based Whitelisting

Ingestion of your cloud data into Cloudability will be impacted if you have network policies restricting communication from/to Cloudability.
