  • 1.  IBM FlashSystem 5100 reports 568 error after configuring FC adapter

    Previously there were no FC cards configured in the storage and it was running properly. Recently, we bought and configured Four port 16Gb/s FC/FC-NVMe adapters in both nodes of the storage. Now, both nodes report the error code of 568 and it holds both nodes in a service state and we are unable to operate on the storage. Also, the node lists the hardware configuration of a single node that detected the adapter but is configured as none.

    Hello Anup Regmi,

    node error 568 means, the Spectrum Virtualize code attempted to update the FC adapter firmware, but failed.

    I'd suggest to raise a formal support ticket with IBM and supply a single snap (collect via Service Assistant GUI), so the reason for this can be investigated.

    Apologies for not having a quick solution to offer for you as of now.

    Hello Anup,
     
    this may be due to your Virtualize version, depending on how old it is and which adapter you have purchased, there is no support for the adapter in the Virtualize version you are using.
     
    The best thing to do is as Christian wrote, open a ticket.

    Thank you for your suggestion, I have asked to raise the formal ticket.

    We are using the latest available version of Spectrum Virtualize (8.5.0.10). In another system, we are using the adapter with the same FRU and in the same storage system with the same version of Spectrum Virtualize.

    In the meantime can this be due to the older version of firmware installed in the adapter which the spectrum virtualize cannot upgrade to the required level? If yes is there any way we can upgrade the adapter?

    There was no adapter previously installed.

    Tried changing the slot to insert the FC adapter into the second one and storage asked to accept the new hardware, accepted it, then installed the FC adapter to another one. Storage is up and running now.
