  • 1.  How to stop simserver (cimom) on SVC 8.6.0.3 ?

    We intend to upgrade the SVC from 8.6.0.3 to 8.7.0.4. The upgrade will not start due to an error during the test utility. The error is about the use of the CIMOM in the past 48 hours. This is expected. As soon as the upgrade has been finished we will continue using REST. However, on the current level the REST is not supported by the remote application (Commvault). We wish to force the upgrade, despite of the use of the CIMOM.

    Does Anybody have a suggestion?

    Hi Mark,

    First of all due to the change in the snapshot mechanism in IBM Storage Virtualize, you should to be aware that upgrading to 8.7 code level may interrupt your commvault snapshot integration with your SVC.

    Hello,

    Regarding 8.7 code, I thought that the LTS release (8.7.0.X) is still fully compatible with previous releases regarding snapshots and replication.

    Only when you go to higher version (8.7.1 and above), the "consistency group" approach will no longer work and everything needs to go via volumegroups.

    Hi, today i was running into the same issue. I could continue the installation of the 8.7.0.5 code by clearing all the logs with "cleardumps".

    Please be careful with this.  The point of the CCU Checker notice is to prevent unexpected interop issues with management engines that still use the CIMOM rather than the REST API.  Make sure you are clear on what interfaces are being accessed before attempting a workaround.  If in doubt, contact support.
