    Hi!

How to count the PVU Usage for "IBM Db2 Connect Unlimited Edition for System i" with ILMT ?

Customer has license for "IBM Db2 Connect Unlimited Edition for System i Processor Value Unit (PVU)".

DB2 on iOS is embedded and therefore there are no signatures to discover by the distributed scanner for iOS.

    Any suggestions?

    Hi,

Have you activated the license for IBM Db2 Connect, in order to deploy the file signatures ?

    https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSEPGG_11.5.0/com.ibm.db2.luw.licensing.doc/doc/t0057375.html

For example, if I look for 'IBM DB2 Connect Unlimited Edition for System i 10.5' component, it's being discovered using this signature file: IBM_DB2_Connect_Unlimited_Edition_for_System_i-10.5.0.swtag. So the signature files should be deployed upon installation.

If it's not deployed by default, I suggest contacting DB2 Connect support and ask for assistance.

    Thank you.

    Hi!

Yes, there should be a signature in case when DB2 was installed on Windows or AIX or Linux.

But, as I already mentioned above:

"DB2 on iOS is embedded and therefore there are no signatures to discover by the distributed scanner for iOS."

    There is no DB2 installation!

When you check the Software Signatures you will see that those signatures are either for UNIX or Windows.

There are no installation steps for "DB2/400" or "DB2 for i" which is the embedded database on iOS.

License information from announcement letter for DB2 11.1

DB2 Connect Unlimited Edition for System i licenses are based on the number of processor cores (measured in PVU) allocated to DB2 for i that is being accessed. Charges for the program are not based on the number of processors attached or available to the DB2 Connect Unlimited Edition for System i itself.

So do I need to create a signature "manually" for a charged component and have to run the "distributed scanner for iOS" on the iOS Server with the embedded Database "DB2 for i", to count this PVUs?

I need a confirmation for this!

    Thank you in advance!

Or is there an exception to count this PVUs manually?

    Hello,

If you search through Software catalog (via ILMT), you will see that 'IBM DB2 Connect Unlimited Edition for System i' component exists and the signature is defined for all platforms (including AS/400, iSeries and System i):

    Platform

    ANY

    Discovery

    Yes

    Usage

    No

So if a signature file doesn't exists on your environment, then you need to engage product support team (in this case DB2 connect) and clarify with them why the signature hasn't been deployed.

ILMT is only scanning your system for those tag files.

    Thank you.

    Hi!

The signature you have mentioned for ANY OS is the signature for version 10.5

    EOS for Version 10.5 = 04/30/2020

Again, there is no "deployment" for "DB for i" and therefore there can't be a signature on the iOS server.

    thx!

What is your installed version of IBM Db2 Connect Unlimited Edition for System i ?

    Thank you.

There is no "installed" version of "IBM DB2 Connect Unlimited Edition for System i" on the iOS Server.

The iOS Version is V7R3M0 and so also the "DB2 for i" version is V7R3M0.

    As already mentioned before:

DB2 Connect Unlimited Edition for System i licenses are based on the number of processor cores (measured in PVU) allocated to DB2 for i that is being accessed.

DB2 for i is embedded in iOS and so there is no installation and no signatures on the iOS.

    Thank you!

ok, so basically you are expecting that IBM DB2 for i 7.3 to be detected by ILMT. May I know what is the current software catalog version ? What about ILMT version ?

    more or less.

because otherwise it's not possible to use ILMT for the PVU count of embedded DB2 for i
