    Sorry I am new to AIX. I have 2 servers with oslevel -s = 5300-02-00 and 5300-04-00.

#lslpp -l bos.perf.proctools Level shows: 5.3.0.20 and 5.3.0.30 for the two servers respectively.

I need to upgrade the bos.perf.proctools to 5.3.0.50 or higher,

When I check the IBM link for filesets: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=isg1fileset567607230

    It shows: bos.perf.tools.5.3.0.50 5300-05

Does this mean I have to upgrade to OS level to 5300-05?

If so, does it means that if I upgrade to 5300-05, the bos.perf.proctools will automatically go up to 5.3.0.50

Or can I just directly find bos.perf.proctools 5.3.0.50 without upgrading the OS level?

Thanks and sorry if this question is too silly

I'm not sure if bos.perf.protocols has pre-requisites, you may try installing this independently, but if error occurs, you might as well install full TL version.

Please be aware that IBM have dropped standard support for AIX 5.3 a few days ago.

Yes, you may still apply TL even your attempt is failed, but as mmveiga stated, you may want to preview first so you may be warned if it will fails. Anyway, its true that AIX 5.3 already announced its EOS last until April 30, 2012. You may see attached for the announcement. Also, you may start upgrading your AIX version to 6.1.
