Having accurate data in addition to easily accessing the data is important to the success of a business.  It allows management to not only make informed business decisions, but it saves time and we know time is money. This case study is based on improvements that were done to accomplish that.

The first thing we did was worked with key stakeholders to clean up data center inventories which included storage, databases, and middleware.  We applied the correct application ID to the inventory as well as made the inventory visible in Apptio. Having visibility removes the noise and adds credibility to the invoice.  The second improvement was to create more user-friendly reports which eliminated the need for individual showback reports. Applications now have a more accurate Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) that will enable management to make better business decisions as well give them extra time to focus on other business concerns.

Great use case Sharon. Loved the business cadence to work with SMEs to improve data quality, and the business value delivered with the new solution.
