Question for all of you wildly intelligent and creative folks...

How are you mapping Enterprise Data through the ATUM?

The preference for my Enterprise Data group is to be dis-integrated from the rest of technology at the ITRT perspective. I see it both ways I suppose: they have cost centers focused on appdev & support but they don't want to be lumped into everyone else's appdev.

I would think this has potential impact to benchmarking. Unless, carving out EDO is such a common practice that Enterprise Data appdev may actually appear in benchmarking datasets.

Does anyone else customize to call out Enterprise Data separate from the rest of Tech?

Not sure what you mean exactly with Enterprise Data or EDO, but I'd be interested in answers myself, @Stephanie Geltrude.
Benchmarking is always a tricky proposition: we've done external benchmarks, and they required extensive reconciliation to ensure some kind of alignment. At some point we found out we had 4 times more Management & Administration labor costs than our peer group. They asked us tricky questions about that.
If you do some kind of high-level report on App Dev/Support, you'd better fine tune it for its intended purpose.
    I doubt there's a one-size-fits-all approach to benchmarking.

We extended ATUM and collected all these costs in a custom IT Tower to separate them from the original IT cost. This is also something what we did in past (non-TBM related ) IT benchmarks.

Our Enterprise Data Management consists mainly of Data Strategy/Governance as well as financial data management in SAP. Both can be argued as IT or non-IT costs. The separate Tower was somewhat a compromise (The team is in our IT orga).
