  • 1.  DWC Problem Solving – Forecasting and Recognizing Job Completion

    Posted Mon April 23, 2018 11:50 AM

Currently my co-worker and I are learning how to use the DWC. We just had our entire system migrated from the Mainframe to Windows Server.

One of the biggest issues is that we have four jobs that run and finish on our clients end (PeopleSoft), but the DWC does not recognize this acknowledgement of completion, thus causing the job to be stuck in a long “Running” status. We are unable to “Kill” and if we “Cancel” the job, it will sometimes roll over into the schedule for the next day and place that job under a “USERJOBS” workstation, where we can’t “Kill” or “Cancel” the job. There is an open ticket with IBM on this issue at the moment but any assistance you can offer is extremely helpful.

We would also appreciate help on creating a “Forecast”, because when we create one right now in Production it seems to lock up the system and we are unsure of why it is causing this issue. We currently are using a work around by using a “TMP” Engine and run the “Forecast” that way, but we still have to import the data to a spreadsheet and make changes there.

Assuming that you are using IWS 9.4, I suggest that review the CHECKINTERVAL as this defaults to 2 minutes, leading to up to a 2 minute delay in recognising a job has completed in PeopleSoft. See here for details https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSGSPN_9.4.0/com.ibm.tivoli.itws.doc_9.4/apps/src_usr/awsauconfoptsdef.htm

For the Forecast issue are you saying that using a separate engine definition resolves the issue?

What version of TWS/IWS are you using?

Yes, we are using IWS 9.4.1 Our system administrator reduced the number of jobs that run at one time and that seemed to have resolved the issue with our "Long Running" jobs.

For the Forecast, we are using a separate engine definition as a temporary fix, until we are able to find a permanent solution. We run the Forecast on our PROD Engine, but we are only able to View/Open the Report on the TMP Engine.

Do you have any suggestions on how we could redirect or save the Forecast in  PDF Format?

    Thank you!
