    What is the difference between bluemix and softlayer how can I make use of bluemix. (I currently use softlayer).

    Softlayer is the IaaS whereby we can rent infrastructure whereas Bluemix is the PaaS where one can rent out complete services to build, run, deploy and manage applications

    Thank you. But which is cost effective as I have several applications that I have deployed and I manage on softlayer

    On first thoughts, since you have already developed and deployed your applications, SoftLayer would be cheaper.

    But  you can subscribe to BlueMix services for very short time intervals,    so you will not have to pay  for a full years software licence fees; just pay for the short intervals, Whereas on Softlayer ,  you may have paid up for a full years licence fee for the various softwares required to run your  applications.

    So you will have to factor in these and decide what is economical for you.

    Thank you. However I see that alot of resources are not being used always by my applications but if I had deployed them on bluemix, I would have saved cost by paying for only services that are used.
