  • 1.  Creating Automatic Groups - mine don't seem to work...

    Posted 01/16/15 02:00 PM

I used the method I found in the IBM Knowledge Center 9.1 and it wasn't hard to create the group.  The problem is that, after updating, the group doesn't actually populate with any computers.  I can't figure out why.

Even when I make an Automatic Group with a very simplistic filter, i.e. Device Type - contains - server, the group does not populate.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Mark

    Mark,
Did you get this to work? Remember for automated groups that IEM is a closed loop system and the site (updates) needs to go down to the endpoint and be RELEVANT - then the endpoint will post back that it should belong to the group and show up. Below is a picture of my just created group "Servers" with subscription as "Device Type" contains server (it will lower case the compare).

If you create automatic groups and you don't see them populate quickly (within X minutes) then I would assume you have UDP issues - an easy way to check is to stop and start the BESclient on a machine and see if it added to your group, as the STARTUP will send a TCP packet which should get past any UDP issues you may have.
