It appears you may have installed the wrong version. The academic version is not limited but requires a (free) academic license to run. There is an approval process (basically, establishing your academic credentials) to qualify for the license. The community edition is a free introductory version that has size limits.

Subject: CPLEX Academic Initiative - variables limit
Hello,
I installed CPLEX on my computer through the Academic Initiative (AI) program, following these instructions. I've been trying to use it with Python, and it is working as intended for "smaller" problems. The issue is that, when I move to slightly bigger and more complex problems, I get the following error:
Solver raised an error: 'CPLEX Error 1016: Community Edition. Problem size limits exceeded. Purchase at http://ibm.biz/error1016.
My question is if the academic version of CPLEX is limited to a certain amount of variables/constraints, or if this problem shouldn't occur and there is something wrong with my installation.
Thank you,
Luis
