Is there a quick and easy way of coping the setup/allocations within the Cost Model to another model?

    hi Julie,

In v11: If in your project settings you have Cost Model as your base model, any modelled metrics that you create will be base on that model using all existing allocation lines.

If you have a model that is out of date compared to cost yo need to:

    • Not the initial drivers
    • Delete the modelled metric
    • Crate the modelled metric
    • Update the drivers

Thanks Michael, I thought that might be the way but wasn't 100% sure.

All our models (except Cost) are very basic i.e. Cost Source, Vendors, Labor, Towers. As we have CapEx and budget going to Projects and some other objects these models are now out of date.

Would it be easier to add in the objects I need or copy the Cost model?

6 of one, half a dozen of the other. Creating a new model will ensure that you have an exact replica, but you will need to manually update any customisations you need for that specific model.

I would add the procedure to your runbook if you are refreshing models

    Hi @Michael Moulsdale,

Is the process the same in V12 (delete Budget metric, re-create Budget metric)?

Is this treated as a customisation - will I cause myself problems when it comes to future upgrades by doing this?

    Cheers,

    Steven

In v12 things are much better. It is just a case of ensuring that the metric is selected in the relevant allocation lines.
