  • 1.  Component Upgrade

    Posted 06/22/18 11:43 AM

We have a number of error messages coming up on our components: "This component version is newer than the project's components version"

Does anyone know what this means?

Also, we're looking to get Cloud Cost Management added but have been told we need to upgrade our components, what's the process to get these upgraded? What downtime would there be? How much time would it take to complete this?

    Hi Julie,

Even though this was discussed via e-mail, I want to add the answer to this question so that others can benefit.

There is no need to upgrade the existing Cost Transparency project, which is running on Template 103, to enable CCM. CCM is handled by the separate project which can run Template 104. If you wanted to upgrade the CT Template version, Upgrade Cost Transparency from Template v103 to the Latest Version outlines the approach. The reason CCM needs Template 104 is because of the reporting UI changes that it leverages.

However, migration to CT Template 104 is entirely instance / solution specific. This is because it changes the UI, report collections and enables use of ATUM 2.0 as well.

    So, all in all:

    •       Even if you were running Template 104 on CT, you would still need to leverage a CCM project – this is the way in which you would set this up
    •       Accessing the CCM reports requires a different landing page for CCM; CCM isn’t accessed from the standard CT landing page, you would need to navigate to the Public Cloud home page
    •       There is no ‘dependency’ on CT to be at Template 104 for this to work; only certain sets of data may be shared with CT running on this template

    Hope this helps!
