  • 1.  "Column" Picker in Cost Transparency

    Hello Community!

Application: Cost Transparency for Apps, Services, and Business Units

    Version: r11.5

I do not typically spend a lot of time creating custom reports and was curious to know if there's a feature that allows a "picker" for fields that would normally go into the "Columns" section of the ad-hoc query configuration window as opposed to the "Rows" section.  See attached screenshot.

I can see there is an easy process to add a picker that adds fields to the Rows, but I was wondering if I could also create one that would create a value for columns.

    Thanks in advance!

    David

I wanted to add a little bit of clarification.

When I use a normal Column Picker from the "Insert" options and add the field "Service Name", what I get is a single column dimension that lists each Service Name.

What I want is to have a column that displays the cost metric amount for each unique Service Name.  So instead of having a picker that, when I choose a field, adds a single attribute dimension, I'm looking for a picker that will provide me with a standalone column for each unique value in that field.

So if I have 50 unique values in Service Name and choose the radio button for "Service Name", I expect to see 50 columns with the "Cost" metric value displayed.  If I then switch and choose the radio button for "Service Offering" where Service Offering has 100 unique values, I expect to see 100 columns with the "Cost" metric value displayed.

This is not really a common use case that I've come across and is serving one very specific purpose for one individual.

    Thank you,

    David

    Hi David,

Currently, it is not possible to do this. But thank you for the great question. Please keep em coming.

David, it's not quite what you are looking for, but you can use a QuickPivot to toggle what shows up in the rows. In your example, you could QuickPivot between Service Name and Service Offering. It achieves the ability to see cost metric for those two dimensions in a toggle-able way. However, the services would be displayed in the rows, not across the top as columns the way you have described.
