    Hi,

    We have a multi server Cognos 11.1.1 environment up and running and the details are as below

    • Gateway Server(Primary)
    • Gateway Server(Standby)
    • Application Server (Primary)
    • Application Server (Standby)
    • Database / Content Store (SQL Server 2014)
    • Transformer / FM Box
    Architecture diagram attached. How to set up external load balancer?

    Hello. Setting up the load balancer is outside the Cognos software, so the team managing that device or software will be able to create it. 
    The only general recommendation is to ensure "sticky" session is enabled per the following document: https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/f5-load-balancer-persistence-type-cognos-bi 

    On a side note, your app servers probably also have the content manager component so they will also connect to the SQL instance for your content store.
