  • 1.  Cloud vs On Prem

    Hi all,

    I know nothing about Cognos Analytics Cloud........Everything we do/have is On Prem........does anyone know of a document that explains what the cloud version Contains?  Specifically how dispatchers are controlled and/or monitored.  What if Memory spikes - does IBM do anything or do we???  Basic things like that.........Also - if anyone is on it - I'm looking for feedback positive or negative.

    With Cognos Analytics on Cloud IBM deploys and runs Cognos Analytics –as a service– for you. You take responsibility for organizing and managing the functional environment. Have a look at the attached document. We offer two flavors: CA on Cloud on-Demand and CA on Cloud Hosted. On-Demand stands for an easy entry, low cost and pay-as-grow approach, whereas Hosted brings an enterprise oriented approach, which also allows for migrating your existing Cognos Analytics investments. The document has details on what we take care off and what you need to do.

    From your questions I can tell you are Cognos Admin saavy so maybe this will help, CAoC Hosted is a managed SaaS so anything SysAdmin we would handle. Anything directory admin and below your team would handle. But through support tickets you would still be able to put in customizations into your environment. This is the offering we recommend for folks looking to move from On Prem to Cloud. Having said that CAoC is containerized today so the orchestration of your environment is handled by Kubernetes.
