Whilst advising against building any new systems on AIX 4.3.3, I have been asked if the 520 can run AIX 4.3.3 .
    Looking for a definitive answer.

    Thanks.

The p5-520 requires AIX 5L Version 5.3 or AIX 5L Version 5.2 Maintenance Package
5200-04 (IY56722) or later. The use of the Advanced POWER Virtualization feature requires AIX 5L Version 5.3.

I don't think any of IBM's current System p5 range will run AIX 4.3.3

The choice of course will be in favour of supporting the application. If neither are supported, I'd be that the application will run unchanged on AIX 5.3 unless it's 64-bit (in which case a one time recompile is needed). If it's 32-bit you are good to go. You could try running the application on AIX 5.3 on the 520 and later updating the B80 to 5.3. After all, since AIX 4.3 is not supported and if you application is in the same boat, you have nothing to lose.
