    My best guess is because you keep booting off of hdisk1. Assuming you have half ways modern hardware, there is no need to change the boot list, you can just go into SMS menus and select the CD as your boot device. Otherwise, you had better put cd0 first in the boot list when you issue the command.

    With the boolist even with the cd0 on the 1st position, it doesn't boot with the CD-Rom!

    Maybe, the CD is not OK ? what can i verify ? an boot CD must have something like 'imagexxx' ?

    I'd suggest you contact IBM SupportLine if nobody in your organization knows the passwords to access your systems firmware menus. They should be able to help you get that machine back to it's factory default state in which the admin password is simply admin.

    In the past i resolved, with firmware upgrade, the same problem when i try to install AIX 5.2 on old B80 box that fail with boot from cd.
