In talking with Customers and Apptio Delivery consultants, lone of the most frequent pieces of feedback I get about Bill of It is "How can we customize the email invoices?". Apart from being able to specific which sections show in the Detailed Invoice, there is little we you can do to customize the invoice.

In thinking about where we want to go with the product and how it should be developed over the next couple of years I want to tackle this subject head on. So although I often hear we want customization, I don't always hear exactly what needs to be customized and in what way.

Some of the things we are thinking of include:

• Ability to add extra metrics (Business Budget, Cost)
• Ability to have a summary section at the top that includes Transfer Pricing
• Ability to show services charges at a more granular level
• Ability to include the currency of the consuming entity
• Ability to charge from specific regions to specific regions

So these are some of our ideas, but I'd really like to hear what you think, both in terms of the ideas we already have, but also what you would like to be able to do with the email invoice.

I agree; we do not use the Bill of IT yet, but this email functionality exists in CT also and like you mentioned for BoIT; it is largely uneditable, which needs to change.

The key missing piece is the detailed invoice (category, type, name, offering, price per unit, units, methodology, owner). This would all fit within a table that can be formatted to the organizations liking. This functionality alone would go along way in satisfying needs.

There is now. A detailed invoice breakdown was one of the new additions in one of the more recent releases. However, customization of the invoices is difficult (specifically the detailed invoice for email). We're a bit spoiled with the other reporting features in Apptio, so when you run into a report that can't be modified the way you want, it can be frustrating. I'm not intending to spread misinformation, but I believe it is related to the automated email functionality of the invoice. I hope this helps.
