  • 1.  Benchmarking Mainframe MIPS vs MSU

    Posted 02/13/18 05:51 PM

We got back from our data owner that MIPS is obsolete way for IBM, could you please let me know if Benchmarking can handle MSU instead of MIPS?

IBM now uses what they call MSU (Millions of Service Units). IBM is on a monthly basis that shows that while we have hardware rated at 16 MSUs, it is configured to use only 8. IBM uses the #MSUs to determine how much they charge us in licensing for things like DB2 Database software. IF the number of MSUs used, the licensing cost increases.

@Swee Hor Teh, we should be able to help you convert MSUs to MIPS if you can provide us the Series name, System name and Model Code of your midrange machines.

    Hi @Swee Hor Teh,

Looks like you have the MSU to MIPS conversion already. Could you help me understand what you are looking for?

    Regards,

    Akshatha
