The simple answer would be something like after logging into the HMC right click on the chosen LPAR and select "Open Terminal Window".

With HMC version 7.x you have a Web interface where you select the Server on the left hand pane and then on the right hand pane select the LPAR. Once you have the LPAR selected select "Console Window" and "Open Terminal Window".

With HMC version 6.x the idea's the same but you're connecting to the HMC with a "Web Based System Manager" an application that can be downloaded from the HCM itself and installed on your PC. Once you have the application open on the left hand pane select:

Server and Partition --> Server Management ... this will display your physical servers in the right hand pane.

From the right hand pane select the server, expand it out to show the LPARs, select the LPAR, right click on the LPAR and select "Open Terminal Window".

And for both versions you can ssh into the HMC and run vtmenu to access a console.
