There is something over [here][1], but the documentation is so thin there. We have a AIX 7.2 running on powerpc.
Most of the tutorials online are using  HMC.

The first thing you need to find out is whether you actually *CAN* LPAR the machine.   Do you know the machine type and model?   Next question is do you have a license for and is PowerVM installed?  (that is the 'hypervisor' for lack of better term).    If you don't have an HMC or IVM (or Novalink) set up, then it is unlikely you have PowerVM installed and operational.   That means you are running AIX 7.2 on "baremetal" and will not have any virtualization functionality.

In the Advanced System Management console, System Configuration > Firmware Configuration says firmware type is PowerVM.

I am not sure if that means we have PowerVM licence. If above information is not sufficient, can you let us know how to verify if we are running on baremetal?

I'm thinking that's a positive sign that you have PowerVM listed in ASMI.

How do you bring up the ASM console?  Do you just point a browser at the IP address?

On that ASM menu, under system configuration, is there a 'hardware management consoles'  link?   If so, if you click it does it show any connected HMCs?

Have you seen this web page?  Lots of good info that you mind find useful.

If you want access to firmware updates, software, and fixes, I think you'll need to figure out what software entitlement you have.  That will probably require you contacting IBM with the machine and serial number so they can tell you what their records show.   How did you acquire this machine?   IBM or whoever sold it to you should be able to help with that process.

About connecting to ASM console, I do not use it. I just ssh into the box.
