  • 1.  Auto Logoff?

    Posted 02/23/17 12:27 PM

We have a "few" TBMAs as well as people outside of the TBMO who access reports.  We find that when we get a few people in a particular environment, it bogs down a bit.  We also notice after going to the Audit tab and clicking on 'Logged In Users' that there will be folks in there that have been idle for quite a while.  I do it myself - I'm in there, then something else pops up and I leave the browser window open.  Is there a way to potentially log people off after x minutes of being idle - like maybe 30 minutes?  I know that would definitely help in our situation when we have several folks hitting a particular environment.

    Jenny,

Currently in v11 there isn't an automatic timeout for users.  The best way is when they are done with their session to do use the logoff at the top right hand side in order to log out.  (The bad)

(The good).  In v12 with Frontdoor being enabled (replaces the currently user security in v11) there is a timeout period that a user will hit that will automatically log them out of the system.

    Thanks,

    Ryan

Ah yet another reason for our team to get trained/moved to V12!   Thanks, Ryan!

    Ryan,

Does the auto log-out behavior for v12 work for companies using their own single sign on (SSO) environment instead of Frontdoor?

    Mark,

I had a customer with IT Planning Foundation that deployed SSO and we ended up having to add their users that were using the system via a bulk upload (which is possible in frontdoor easily) to Frontdoor.   I'll see if I can find out if this has changed as well.

    Mark,

I had some follow ups this morning and was reading some more information.  In regards to SSO and Frontdoor should still work with the timeout.

In regards to use SSO we can have where SSO sends up the the information (user & role) that they need to use when the access the application.

    Ryan

Do you know if you can increase the time of the Frontdoor timeout setting in R12?

    Thanks

    Craig

    Craig,

I was just poking around in Frontdoor and currently there is not and it's probably due to security measures of someone walking away from their computer, etc.

    Cheers,

    Ryan

Fab question Jenny - something that's been playing on our minds as we've moved the month end data loads to our Business & Contracts team.
