  • 1.  Asset Level Details in Usage Summary

    Posted 03/09/18 08:44 AM

We are in the process of configuring Bill of IT.  One of the things we're considering is providing visibility to asset level detail for the things that the bill recipients can easily verify.  This is for things in the End User and Voice areas:  desktops, laptops, wireless numbers, long distance charges, etc.   Items like this are assigned to named individuals and/or specific Cost Centers.   Bill payers are used to seeing this kind of detail in the current billing system and have established processes for re-assigning ownership if they find they are getting billed for things that don't belong in their departments.

We have all of this detail in Cost Transparency but don't want to have to drive the bill recipients into CT for this info and prefer not to build reports outside of the Apptio environment to provide this information to them.

It doesn't seem like it's a complex undertaking to add these types of reports into Bill of IT.

I'd assume the rest of you have similar needs.  How have you addressed them ?

    Thanks

    Hi George,

We do have some asset-based views in the out-of-the-box Bill of IT. If you drill in on a Service from the Usage summary report, and scroll down to the bottom of the screen, there will be several tabs focused on the different assets that compose that service. You will need to have installed the corresponding components, BoIT- Servers, BoIT- End User Devices, etc.

Do these views get you what you need? Happy to discuss further or get any feedback you have about how to make these better!

    Jared
