  • 1.  App TCO Validation Playbook??

    Posted 08/16/17 10:49 AM

Our org (OCIO) is getting ready to and preparing to rollout App TCO to the different IT Org. We are currently getting into regression testing where we have gathered key apps with different characteristic profiles to be tested. Can anyone share their experiences with rollout an adoption and best practices. We are looking to create a validation playbook that we can provide to the Application owners so we can defend the numbers and also ensure clarity and consistency. If any of you would like to join this discussion share their experiences, templates, what worked well, what were the pitfalls and challenges it would be much appreciated. Looking for simplicity, focusing on the objective and consistency. Many thanks for your feedback!

"Rational and defendable" is our motto - and the sooner you start sending reports out the better - visibility is key - once it appears to hit someone's area, people tend to take notice.  We kicked around TBM for 1.5 years before getting reports out and that's really when things took off.  Even the socialization and meeting with the department heads didn't have as much impact as putting a dollar figure on a piece of paper and getting it under their noses.   Really helps the infrastructure owners, too, when people see the cost of the infrastructure - opens eyes.  We also incorporated having to present their TBM numbers as part of any business case and in partnering with Finance, they drove that home for us - it's really helped make TBM a 'household name' around here.
